"Macchinder Nath an incarnation of Primordial Guru started Nath Pantha. Even after some decades these were very few real Gurus (Avadhuta[s)] left in this cult. The deterioration started. Tankrikas [tantrikas] who imposed themselves as Gurus took charge of the cult in Many places."
1902-0000 Handwritten Note on Haṭha Yoga related to The Book of Ādi Śhakti, Chapter 7

"Now about this power ... in our country many people knew about this for ages and they were called true Masters (Sadguru). These people had attained this knowledge through very hard penance.
A power named as Kuṇḍalinī resides in our triangular bone. And we call it Kuṇḍalinī because it's [it] sits in the shape of three and a half coil. It is very surprising that even Greeks knew about this. Because the triangular bone where Kuṇḍalinī resides, they call it sacrum bone. It means there is this sacred bone within us. Not sure, if many of these things they adopted from us or they attained this knowledge themselves in sahaja way.
In our country, experimentations to achieve Self-realization have been going on for ages. In Maharashtra [India] there have been people belonging to Nāth sect like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, etc., these people were all into this."

"To make the people cross the Void (Bhavasāgara) He has to make some arrangement. So the Great Power like Brahmā, Viṣhṇu, Maheśha was created and They were placed in the Area of Dharma.
Dattātreya and Ādi Gurus incarnated in this world many a times. He incarnated as King Janaka who was like the father of Ādi Śhakti. After that He incarnated in Iran as Zoroaster, then as Macchindranāth, then as Muhammad Sāheb and Nāṇak Sāheb.
No one fought with each other. See what type of darkness you are in?"
1973-1125 Public Program (Hindi), Day 7, Pāne ke Bāda: Sāta Chakroṃ ke Devatā (After Getting It: Deities of the Seven Chakras), 4 Duplex Lane, New Delhi, India

"Śhrī Dattātreya's Incarnations are numerous. Firstly He came as King Janaka. Śhrī Sītājī was His daughter, who was the embodiment of Śhakti Herself. Then He came as Macchindranāth, Zoroaster, and Muhammad Sāhab, who were a completely different type of human being.
They trialed out lots of different things.
Śhrī Datta, the Primordial Masters firstly in this world educated us about the symbolic forms within us. And then also said that, "You people got entangled in symbolism, in idol worshiping." Their meaning was to go beyond and recognize the Śhakti within these idols. That's why They talked about the idols."
1973-1208 Public Program (Hindi), Day 2, Biralā Krīṛā Keṃdra, Chowpatty, Girgaum Chowpatty, Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

"The same Śhrī Dattā incarnated many a times on the Earth.
As I told you yesterday, King Janaka was one of Them. King Janaka was the father of Jānakī [Śhrī Sītā]. He was none other than the Incarnation of Śhrī Dattātreya.
Thereafter, Macchindranāth, most have you must have heard His name, was also His Incarnation.
After that Zoroaster who came three times on the Earth, He was also His Incarnation.
After that Muhammad Sāhab, who was His Incarnation.
And when He was asked that, "Bhāī [Brother], there must have been others also before You," then He replied, "Yes, there [was] a Muhammad." Then again He was asked who was before Him. He replied, "There was one Muhammad."
Muhammad means Praise, the One who is praised, the One who deserves to be praised and is the One who is Redeemer of the world.
They were all Muhammads, They were all Dattātreyas, who came on Earth regularly.
After that [was] Nāṇaka, Guru Nāṇaka. If you ever read His teachings, if you read His talks then you will be surprised that He has always talked in a Sahaja. He has said, "Sahaja Samādhi lago." He has said, "Kāhe re ban khojan jāe, Sarab nivāsī sadā alepā tohī saṃg[a] samāī, Puṣhpamadhya jo bāsa basata hai mukara māhī jaise chhāī, Taise hī harī base niraṃtara ghaṭa hī khojo bhāī." ["Why to go to forest to find Him, He is always there with you just like there is a fragrance in a flower and just as the reflection is there in a mirror, in the same way God is residing in you eternally, seek Him within."] He is just inside, achieve Him just inside. We are just singing poem, singing songs, we are just cramming His prescription.
The talk of seeking this Absolute Principle, residing just inside the heart, has been made since ancient times by these Ādi Gurus, who are incarnated on this Earth again and again.
......
Now just look at Gaganagaḍ Mahārāj, it is true that he cured many people, but the problem is that his fingers moved inside like a telescope and those of feet also. The poor man lives on a tree or moves on a lion. Apart from this he cannot move anywhere. But when I reached to him, these people were with Me, he quickly recognized Me. There is no doubt about it. He has not yet seen Me in this lifetime. But from many years he knew about Me. He is elder to Me. He began to say, "Mother, I have been waiting for you for many years. Today I am so fortunate that you have come here." He is a Nāth Pānthi, so he is just like Macchindranāth and a very great person."

"And He actually came to do work of Sahaja Yoga in that area.
Maharashtra is a very good area for one reason: is a part of India where, since long, a group of people have been working on these lines of the Ādi Guru. They were called as Avadhūtas. And they started with Macchindranāth, you see, a Primordial Master was born as Macchindranāth.
And they started working on very people in the villages, or you can say in the hills and valleys. We can call them that they were like ascetics, separated, just dedicated to find out the Truth.
And these people, but very few of them, they started working it out.
Like the ... you can say the Kaśhyapas of the Zen system.
And they went into the various countries -- even Macchindranāth, His ... His disciple was Gorakhnāth -- they all went into various countries to find out: 'What is the problem, and how it is to be worked out.'

"Now, we have had great Saints in our country, no doubt.
Even a person like Gyāneśhwara, was a great Saint we have [had]. And He was in the same line as Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, then Gyānināth, and then His father [brother] there was Nivṛuttināth, and He initiated Him. And we had a Great Guru paramparā, Guru tradition in a ... that Nāth Pānthis.
Even He, Gyāneśhwara, who was a realized Soul, no doubt, and His brother was really a very great Saint. Even He, when He writes about [the] Kuṇḍalinī awakening, He doesn't do the way you Sahaja Yogis [unclear].
That I wish you could read Marathi, I could make you understand now.
And how He has raised the Kuṇḍalinī, what happens: He could give Realization to two people in His lifetime. See?"

"Dattātreya is the innocence of all these Three Powers.
And this Guru uh was the One whose ... who then had a big tradition of Gurus.
In the same tradition, we had many Gurus in our country. And, specially, in the area near Bombay [Mumbai], which is called as Maharashtra, they came as Nāth. They are, they were called as Nāth.
So the first one was Ādināth [Ṛiṣhabhadeva, first Tīrthaṅkara in Jainism], then ahh Dattātreya, then Macchindranāth, then Gorakhnāth, like that a tradition of these Gurus came.
But all Their knowledge was kept as a guarded secret. It was a Gupta Vidyā. Is absolutely guarded secret: secret knowledge about Kuṇḍalinī.
They never talked about it, they never told about it. Because they thought: that, 'Just now, let us experiment with it fully, and then we will give some idea about it to people.' "
1979-0530 Public Program, A Higher Life, A World of Bliss and Joy (The Three Paths of Evolution), Caxton Hall, 10 Caxton Street, Westminster, London, UK

"I mean, you take one of them, and is sufficient to give you full idea of Sahaja Yoga.
You take the simple person, uh-uh-uh a very simple person, like, say, mhh Sāī Nāth, who was to look at very simple, but what tremendous Ocean of Knowledge He had. Who was not educated or anything, nobody knows where He was born, what happened, from where He came and where ... uh where He lived, and how He came up to that age, no one knows about His uh-uh-uh background.
Or you take Ādi Śhaṅkarāchārya, or uh-uh you can take Kabīra, or anyone.
For example, you take Macchindranāth. If you uh read about Macchindranāth, you won't know, uh you'll think it's some sort of a mysterious uh knowledge He's giving. It's a tremendous work they did! They went into all the left and the right, and everything they did, all kinds of experimentations. If you see the books they have written about Nav Nāth, the Nine Nāthas, and about Macchindra's life. Macchindranāth went into such depth, and He found out so much about the places where women were rulers.
I think [it] must be the Belgian place He must [laughing:] have been [laughter, laughs], where women were the rulers and husbands were just like cabbages, and this and that.
And all kinds of things He discovered, and then what happened and how He tried to cure that.
It's the movement in another direction, you see, in the root direction, that how these roots have gone and given rise to such horrible trees, here and there, and that's how He worked out.

And it's such a symbolic thing that to understand their work, you have to be really very deep and very penetrating, for which thee [the] human mind, so far, is not boo... able to see the amount of work they have done. I[t']s not possible to see.
Like, if you see Ādi Śhaṅkarāchārya's descriptions or that even Mārkaṇḍeya's descriptions about your Mother, it's remarkable: how little, little things He could see, from where, from what angle. And every little bit of Mother He could see, as a child would see, you see, absolutely close to the Mother. That means the innocence was complete and perfected in Them. Otherwise you can't see these points that They have seen, all the little things like the three folds of the Mother. How can anyone see? But a child can see that three folds of the Mother's are there, that She has three folds in Her body. Uh only a child can see that.
It's-ss tremendous. I tell you, it's tremendous: Their innocence, Their penetration, and Their cou-rage.
You need real courage to grow into that penetration."

Version 1:
"You may not know this but this is a place full of miracles.
There was Macchindranāth who was born here and He was a Great Incarnation of Ādi Guru Dattātreya. He worked very hard in this place.
Before Him, Śhāṇḍilya Muni was here who made this place very pure.

Thus this land of Rāhurī is so pure that Śhrī Rāma and Śhrī Sītā Themselves had to remove Their sandals and come here.
So, it is on such a pure land that you are sitting and are extremely fortunate. It is because of this good fortune that today we have so many seekers and so many Sahaja Yogis who are doing this work."
Version 2:
And miracles that are going to take place here cannot happen anywhere else.
Perhaps you do not know, on this land Śhrī Macchindranāth a Great Incarnation of Śhrī Dattātreya has worked very hard.
Before that, Sages like Śhāṇḍilya made this land holy.
So this land is extremely holy, so much holy that Śhrī Rām and Śhrī Sītā had to take off Their footwear and come here barefoot.

"Also, all the Nāths, like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, all these great evolved souls called as Avadhūtas, who were Incarnations of the Great Primordial Masters, worked in that area. They are the ones who talked of Kuṇḍalinī to begin with, openly."
1986-0106 Śhrī Mahālakṣhmī Pūjā (English + Marathi + English), Ascent Is the Main Attention, Sangli, Maharashtra, India

"So the knowledge of the Kuṇḍalinī we had since long but it was kept as a secret. And was not discussed by the Suṣhumṇā people. Eh [coughs] and they are the ones who formed this Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, all these people. Most of this work was done in Maharashtra. Most of it it was done in Maharashtra. And that's how we have the Suṣhumṇā path in the central path of uh uh ascent or Realization was kept as a secret."
1986-0125 Pūjā, Why We Have Failed in Our Pursuit of God (The Whole System Has to Be Changed), Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

"From Macchindranāth, everyone has taken so much efforts, are you going to waste all that hard work?
Today that [effort] is bearing fruits, today it is taking shape, let people be able to see its form that what Sahaja Yogis are."
1987-1221 Pūjā (Marathi + English + Marathi + English), Become Beautiful Vessels of Vibrations and Attention on Quality, House of Madhukar Bhikobā Dhumāḷ, near Railway Station, Rāhurī, Maharashtra, India

"But how to describe this state? The legendary Nāth Yogi, Macchindranāth, in the third chapter of the Kaulajñānanirnāya Tantra, puts it like this: "Dearest, [in the piṇḍa exist] the chakras of five lines, sixteen lines, sixty-four petals, the truly beautiful 100 petal [lotus] [Āgñyā] and the beautiful thousand petal lotus [Sahasrāra] and above this is a very brilliant 10,000,000 petal lotus. Above the 10 million petal lotus is a 30,000,000 petal lotus, each pericarp of which is similar to a flame. Above this is the all encompassing, eternal, undivided, independent, steady lotus-pervading all stainless. By its [free] will (svecchā) it causes creation and dissolution. Both the animate and inanimate are dissolved in this liṅga." "
1988-1019 Quote, on the day of Navarātri Pūjā (9th Day), Pune, Maharashtra, India from Divine Cool Breeze (India), Volume XV, Issues 11-12 (2003 November-December), Page 21

[We had many Yogis who started work on the middle path of human ascent like Gorakhnāth, Ādināth [Ṛiṣhabhadeva, first Tīrthaṅkara in Jainism], Macchindranāth. They worked on the problem of human beings and how to make this ascent possible. They discovered in human beings in the triangular bone sacrum a residual power.]
1989-1018 Public Talk, 1st World Conference on Yoga Organized by the Soviet Ministry of Health, Moscow University, Moscow, Russia (other date 1019)

"This, the central path, was for, actually, redemption and for awakening the Kuṇḍalinī, which was done by mostly the Nāth Pānthis: like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, Ādināth, these people did it."
1990-0212 Public Program, Day 1, Chowdia Memorial Hall, Town Hall, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

"Now, the tradition is, that: we had a group, we should say, we called them as Nāth Pānthis, in India, who were working on the central path, which is called as Suṣhumṇā. But the tradition was that only one guru c[o]uld have only one disciple. That was the tradition, for ages together.
And the we had this-s Gorakhnāth, and you must have heard about the Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, Ādināth [Ṛiṣhabhadeva, first Tīrthaṅkara in Jainism], all these people."
1991-0413 Public Program, National Press Club, Canberra, Australia

Variant 1:
"In early tradition, it was accustomed to have one guru per student.
It was like this in Nāth Pānthi. One path was devotion (Bhakti Mārg) and the other path was to read about lok [mankind, world] or ved [knowledge]. But as far as Self-realization was concerned, Nāth Pānthi introduced [it] in Maharashtra, like Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth. At that time also there was a custom to have one guru per student."
Variant 2:
"Earlier, it was a custom that one guru should have only one disciple only.
This was the custom in Nāth Pānthi also. On one side, they were very ignorant, and on the other side, people were reading Vedas, etc. But when it was the question of Self-realization, it was Nāth Pānthis who said it was in Maharashtra. Like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth. At that time, it was a custom that one master should have only one disciple."
1991-1216 Public Program (Hindi + Marathi), Day 1, Kuṇḍalinī Eka Mahāna Śhakti (Kuṇḍalinī Is a Great Power), Grounds, New English School, Pune, Maharashtra, India

"And that is why, in this country, people knew about Kuṇḍalinī since long.
I don't know if you have read about Mārkaṇḍeya, who is, see, was about fourteen thousand years back in history. And He has talked about Kuṇḍalinī.
Then we have Nāth Pānthis who were, like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, ancient! They have talked of Kuṇḍalinī. They where the ones who really used a separate or different type of a method, which they called as Sahaj the Way."
1994-0115 Public Program, Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

[Today's Sahaj Yoga is only one advancement.]
[If you read Mārkaṇḍeya, who was thirteen thousand years ago, he was only sixteen years old when He wrote about the Kuṇḍalinī.]
[Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth and Ādi Śhaṅkarāchārya have described it.]
1994-0118 Public Program, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

"Now the another third thing, which [laughing:] I discovered, is even much more uh-uh-uh deeper than this.
When I went to Ukraine, I-eeh saw some very nice paintings done with a very aboriginal sort of colors. So they said, "Mother, this we had before the Christians came here." They showed Me a magazine, in which there was a photograph of the Primordial Mother. And they called it Aditi, that's Sanskrit, we too call it Aditi. Can you imagine? Then they said, "This culture existed before the Christian aggression came in." And there was [were] paintings where of Mūlādhāra chakra, in different ways, and also of Āgñyā chakra. And the way they were talking about all this, even in the magazine, I was really surprised. They said that [coughs]: "All this was ah-ah published, we have books on this, but because of the church, it was all said, 'It's all nonsense, there's nothing like them." But the best part I saw was [drinks water], the picture of the Aditi, and there was a Kuṇḍalinī in Her stomach, or stomach or lower part, and was shown going upward like that. I said, "Look at this culture these people had!" Then they said, "We had relations with India. And they were Aryans and we were also Aryans, and we used to meet them."
So, I thought, Macchindranāth and all these people had gone to the north of India, they might have come to this Ukraine.
And they said that -- I mean the whole thing was traced to-oo-oo ... Ukraine name came from Kuru, and all kinds of things were traced in Sanskrit, all this, I was suhm... amazed. What a culture they had! In what culture they lived! It's something, you know, unbelievable!"
1995-1001 Navarātri Pūjā (cusp between 7th Day and 8th Day), You Must Project Your Depth and Not Reflect, Hangar, Cabella Ligure, Alessandria, Italy

"You are very advanced people here, supposed to. You are very well equipped and people think, 'Mā, Americans are the top for everything.'
But look at these people from Ukraine and from Russia! They were wor-shiping the Primordial Mother three thousand before Christ and when Christianity came, they suppressed it. All clearly written down. And when people wrote about it also, these-s-s Christians there, they were called as Orthodox Christian, they tried to kill them, arrest them. Despite all those problems they stuck on. And I was surprised that even today there are books and magazines about it.
So I was thinking, 'Somebody like Macchindranāth, who went all over the world, must have gone with his disciple Gorakhnāth tere, because they were Nāth Pānthis, they knew about Kuṇḍalinī and all.
But actually they have shown the Aditi, the Mother, with the Kuṇḍalinī in Her stomach. Can you imagine?
All these things were done long time back. And that's why, basically, they are very spiritual people."
1995-1008 Śhrī Śhakti Devī Pūjā, We Have to Understand Our Own Responsibility (Sense of Responsibility and the Main Quality of Viśhuddhi Chakra is Responsibility) and The Greatest Problem of America is Mister Ego (Surrender your ego and Ego Must Be Controlled), Camp Vacamas, 256 Macopin Road, West Milford, NJ, U.S.A.

"Three thousand years before Christ, in Ukraine and part of Russia and also Romania, they used to worship the Primordial Mother, who was called as Aditi. We, too, call Her Aditi.
And they told us, "We are Aryans, we had a big rapport with the Indians, we used to go there, and they used to come here. And the-uh-uhb ... we believed in the Primordial Mother," in which It was Aditi, and [in] it they had painted chakras, exactly like chakras.
......
Mūlādhāra chakra they had painted with four petals, and Āgñyā chakra with two petals. Beautifully painted. I was surprised.
And they believed in the awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī. And they showed Me in the [laughing:] stomach of the Ādi Śhakti, the Aditi, there was the Kuṇḍalinī.
Three thousand year[s] back!
For the Mātā, if they know our music I'm not surprised.
I think ... uh-uh-uh Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth, who was ... who were traveling all over, must have gone there. And in, they were from Maharashtra, I can't they have described ... uh I think they must have told them about the Primordial Mother. And this is how three thousand years back they were worshiping but when the Christian influence came it was all suppressed.
It's very interesting so many scholars have done it."
1995-1028 Talk to Sahaja Yogis (Marathi + Hindi + English), after Concert, the day before Diwālī Pūjā (Hindi) (5th day after Diwālī Day), Nargol, Maharashtra, India

Version 1:
"I have experiences in many countries, for example, Russia, Ukraine and Romania. These countries, I feel, must have been in some close contact with our countries at some time in the past. And Nāth Pānthis, Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth must have visited these countries from here. Because whatever I got from their countries, I could understand that these people knew about the Kuṇḍalinī, even three hundred years before the birth of Christ.
Then I understood how these people got their Self-realization so quickly.
Nāth Pānthis worked a lot in Maharashtra, and I, too, worked very hard. But I feel disappointed that whatever work I could do in North India, could not be done in Maharashtra, even now. I can't understand it, because this is the place where Saints have shed their blood, and every Maharashtrian knows what work Nāth Pānthis have done. And I don't know why it is that what I achieved in North India could not be achieved in Maharashtra." Version 2:
[I have different experiences of different countries like Russia, Ukraine or Romania. These countries must have definitely got some connection with our country. Nāth Pānthi Saints like Gorakhnāth, Macchindranāth must have gone to these countries because what I found there, I realized that these people knew about the Kuṇḍalinī hundreds of years before. Then I understood why these people got their Realization so fast.]
[Nāth Pānthis did a lot of work in Maharashtra and I also worked here a lot but the painful thing is that what I have been able to achieve in North India, I have still not seen that in Maharashtra. I can't understand where the Saints have worked so hard and every Maharashtrian knows who were the Nāths and what work they did. In this very Maharashtra Sahaja Yoga has not settled down so fast like in the North (India). What could be the cause for this?]
1995-1030 Diwālī Pūjā (Hindi + English) (6th day after Diwālī Day), Sahajyog Ke Suruvat (How Sahaja Yoga Started), Nargol, Maharashtra, India

"We have no idea as to this knowledge of Sahaja Yoga existed thousands and thousands of years back.
I was surprised when I went to Kiev in Ukraine people were talking about Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth and they had made pictures of different chakras and were talking about Aditi, is the Primordial Mother. I was shocked how so many years back, three thousand before Christ, these Great Saints went there and did such miraculous work.
We have in this country also a great knowledge of the power of Kuṇḍalinī, but we don't read all that, we don't want to know, but I was happy to know at least in the course of Ayurveda they try to talk about Kuṇḍalinī, they don't know much but they do talk."
1996-0219 Public Address to Doctors, Inauguration, International Sahaja Yoga Research and Health Center, Plot No. 1, Sector 8, H.H. Śhrī Nirmalā Devī Mārg, C.B.D. Belapur, Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

"But in our books it is written: that two great Saints called Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth came to Ukraine and to Russia. And there they described that, 'Eh there are lots [of] man of God living there.' And they taught them about Kuṇḍalinī because I can see on your uh-uh terra cottas, of those times, there is Kuṇḍalinī everywhere, and the chakras and all those ... now ... drawn on those terra cotta pots."
1996-0721 Public Program, CSCA Stadium, Povitroflots'kyi prospect 2, Kiev, Ukraine

"Then I went to Kiev, of all the places, and they told us, "There were two Saints who came from India" -- they, they told also the names of them: their names were Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth. And they told us about this. And they have got pictures, they have got paintings, they have ... got everything, all about Kuṇḍalinī.
But then it vanished into thin air or in the illusion, you can go and see."
1996-0919 Public Program, Convocation Hall, University of Toronto, 31 King's College Circle, Toronto, ON, Canada

"But I was surprised that in Kiev, which is the capital of Ukraine, I went to see the museum: is full of paintings of Kuṇḍalinī and of the chakras, different chakras. I was amazed: 'How could it be?'
And then they said that, "Two thousand before Christ [2000 B.C.], two S-Saints came from India," and they told Me the name and I was a... amazed how they knew the names of those people: Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth.
That time I think America didn't exist, otherwise they would have come here also. [Laughter.]
And these two people went there. And they taught them all about Kuṇḍalinī, but they said, "We didn't know how to raise, we didn't know how to achieve it. So, we just knew it, but we didn't know how to do it."
Same in India: Gyāneśhwara has written about it.
But much before that, thirteen thousand years back, another Saint, Mārkaṇḍeya, has written about it.
Then in the sixth century, Ādi Śhaṅkarāchārya has written about it.
And it has been written by many people. In the sixteenth century, so many Saints have written about.
In the Bible also it is there, that, "I'll appear before you like tongues of flames," and these are the chakras that you see."

"Another thing I discovered was in Kyiv [Kiev], which is the capital: capital of Ukraine. They told Me that, "We have all this knowledge with us because two Great Saints came from India." I couldn't believe My ears.
Went to the museum and saw all the chakras drawn, all Kuṇḍalinī drawn all over. And even on the pots and pans, they had created, out of their terra cotta which they make it with their own hands. And this was also two thousand before Christ [2000 BC]. I don't know, that's what they said but about that. They told Me the name of the Saints who came from India, very amazed: Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth. I was really amazed: 'How they knew the names of these people!' And they talked of the Primordial Mother as the Aditi as we call it in Sanskrit language. So this knowledge was known to them."
1996-0927 Public Program, Auditorium, New York Society for Ethical Culture, 2 West 64th Street, Manhattan, New York City, NY, U.S.A.

"The knowledge of Kuṇḍalinī was known to us, I don't know how many years back, you cannot say because our history is so unknown.
But at the time of a Great Saint, called as Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth, they were indulging into awakening of Kuṇḍalinī, but the condition was that: 'One guru should give Realization to only one guru ... person.' "
1997-0406 Public Talk to Doctors, Conference "The Art of Healing and 'Sahaja Yoga' – A Special Session on Alternative Medicine", Indian Medical Association, FICCI Auditorium, 1 Tansen Mārg, New Delhi, India

"It is said, in the twelfth century in India, there was one, we can call them Avadhūtas, one type of seeking. Once a ... some were seeking on the right side, some on the left, but in center, and they were called as Avadhūtas: Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth, two great people uh-uh-uh ... Saints, you see. They went up to Burma, they went to ... even Russia, they went to uh-uh-uh ... Colombia, Bolivia. And these people talked about Kuṇḍalinī.
So they know about Kuṇḍalinī but they don't know how to awaken It.
And they have run away, these people have run away to Bolivia and all that, so it has not been affected, the knowledge is still there. In Bolivia, so high with that!"
1997-0622 Public Program, Convocation Hall, University of Toronto, 31 King's College Circle, Toronto, ON, Canada

"Those who went into the research of this in India were called as Nāth Pānthis. Nāth means master and paṇṭh[an] means way, that is, way or road of mastery.
Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth were two of these Saints thousands of years ago. These two and others traveled extensively. They had visited the land which is now Ukraine because in the museum you can find ancient pottery with paintings of these chakras."
1997-0827 Written (Presented) Talk, Russian Folk Medicine Conference, Russia (other date 0901)}

Version 1:
"I am very surprised that from India people like Macchindranāth, Gorakhnāth, who used to talk about Kuṇḍalinī, traveled to places like Bolivia, several thousand years back, which is a very difficult place for us to reach. They went to Ukraine and also to some parts of Russia. And after going there they explained to people that, 'This Kuṇḍalinī Śhakti is inside you and all the chakras are present inside your system.'
And we people who are their progeny do not know anything about Kuṇḍalinī.
The natives of Bolivia know everything about Kuṇḍalinī but they say that they do not know how to awaken the Kuṇḍalinī, though they are aware of the existence of Kuṇḍalinī. I went to Bolivia only once, and many thousands of people got Self-realization instantly.
But we people do not have any knowledge of this, and no one tells us about it, nor it is mentioned in any of our books. It is as if we have been completely severed from that great culture and the great knowledge, and we ourselves do not know what kind of peculiar human beings we have become. We are neither Indians nor English. We do not know to which country we belong to. People also do not know the meaning of Kuṇḍalinī. Just imagine, people do not know what is this Kuṇḍalinī which has an ocean-like knowledge inside it."
Version 3:
"I am not saying this Myself. It has been described by old Sages for centuries. People used to talk about Self-realization a thousand years ago.
People like Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth reached countries like Bolivia at that time. Even today it is not easy to reach Bolivia. They went to Ukraine also, and some parts of Russia, and told people that they have this Power within themselves. They gave the knowledge of the chakras.
We are their descendants. What do we know? We know nothing. People in Bolivia know all about the subtle system but they did not know how to enlighten the Power of Kuṇḍalinī. We know all the rest.
When I went there [in Bolivia] it was spreading like fire. They got their Self-realization in huge numbers.
Here in India we have no knowledge about our subtle system, nor it is written in our modern books. Nobody shares this knowledge. It is like we are disconnected, disassociated from this Great Knowledge, and after disassociation from this knowledge, we became mad people of a very different country. We are not Westerners or Indians. We turned into something strange. We have no knowledge. People ask Me whether Kuṇḍalinī and kuṇḍalī [horoscope] are the same. Nobody has this knowledge. Imagine: this country is the real ocean of knowledge, an ocean full of knowledge."
1998-1218 Public Program (Hindi), Naitikatā aura Deśhabhakti (Ethics and Patriotism), Rāmlīlā Maidān, New Delhi, India

"And in Ukraine I found out, perhaps, it was Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth who visited that country. Because: they had done lot of painting about all the chakras. And how could they do it unless and until there was somebody who knew about it?
I'm told that they both traveled a lot, they went to Burma also, but that they went to Ukraine I didn't know but I could see that, it is such a knowledge they had.

But they said that, "After Christianity came in, they stopped all this. They said, 'It's all nonsense. Should not believe in it, it's all absurd.' " And that's how it all went into the museum."
1999-1015 Talk to Sahaja Yogis, after the Evening Program, Friday before Navarātri Pūjā (6th Day), Hangar (now Nirmal Temple), Albera Ligure, Alessandria, Italy

"So you need to tell the whole world that they should join Sahaja Yoga, to get their Kuṇḍalinī awakened.
Everybody is aware of Kuṇḍalinī right from Macchindranāth to Gorakhnāth, as all these people have worked on Kuṇḍalinī. There are books on Kuṇḍalinī, but the knowledge has remained within the books, it has not spread out to other people.
You should tell people about Sahaja Yoga and the rising of the Kuṇḍalinī."
2000-0305 Śhivarātri Pūjā (English + Hindi + Marathi), Stadium, Pune, Maharashtra, India

"Many Saints from our country went to other countries. I think Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth also went to many countries.
Bolivian people know about them. They know the names of the chakras and also they know about Kuṇḍalinī.
I have seen, in the ancient paintings of the Russia, they have painted plexuses. If you travel a little in this country [Russia], then you will be surprised that how and from where have they known about it! Decidedly some of our Saints might have gone there and told about every thing."
2000-0325 Public Program (Hindi), Hamārī Ātmā Kyā Chīja Hai (What Is Our Spirit), Rāmlīlā Maidān, New Delhi, India

"But for this, we must know: this is the knowledge of our country.
Not that others didn't know: they knew.
But what uh in Bolivia, I was surprised, Bolivia is so far off, people told Me, "We know all about chakras, we knew everything. But we don't know how to raise the Kuṇḍalinī." But they knew the word Kuṇḍalinī also.
So-oo-oo, I thought: "I must find out: 'Who has told you all this?' " Two Saints came from India long, long time back. 'Maybe,' I thought, 'Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth had gone everywhere.'
They went to Ukraine also.
So they might have told them about this Kuṇḍalinī and the awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī.

But, they said, "We don't know how to raise the Kuṇḍalinī."
Once you are entitled uh-uh-uh as S-s-sahaja Yogi, you can raise the Kuṇḍalinī of any person: you can cure any person, you can do whatever you want to do, as far as the physical side is concerned, even the mental side."
2000-0408 Public Address to I.A.S. Officers' Wives Association, New Delhi, India

"In Africa, I was surprised: that they have talked about Kuṇḍalinī. They have! And I have seen some of the maps, old maps, of Africa, they have made the picture of Kuṇḍalinī also, all over.
Even in a place like Bolivia, which is so far away, and the somebody went to Bolivia, from Italy, and he said, "Mother they know everything about Kuṇḍalinī!" I said, "Really?" "Yes, they know, but they don't know how to awaken It."
And sprea... Sahaja Yoga has spread so much in Bolivia: the Minister from there came to see Me.
And who told them? I said, "Who told them?" They said, "There were two Saints who came from India."
Even in Ukraine, I was surprised, they said, "There were two Saints who came here from India, they told us about Kuṇḍalinī."
Chinese people, they believe that there is a treasure of spirituality in India, but they don't know what it is, you see.
But these two, I don't know, there were two Saints known as Macchindranāth and Gorakhnāth who have been traveling all over the world. But I don't know if they went all the way [smiling:] over there."

"The Primordial Master was also born as Macchindranāth, and again as Zoroaster who was worshiped by the ancient Persians, and still revered by Parsis. Earlier He had taken birth as Abraham and later as Moses, the Fathers of Judaism. In China He was born as Confucius and as Lao Tze, and in Greece as Socrates. He took a very significant Incarnation as Muhammad Sāhib, the Messenger (Paigambar) and founder of Islam, whose daughter Fāṭimah was Sītā reborn, an Incarnation of Ādi Śhakti. She was the origin of the Shiya sect among the Muslims (in Indian dialect Sītā is called Shiya). Yet again He took birth as Guru Nāṇak, founder of the Sikh religion, whose sister was Nāṇakī (Jānakī, i.e., Sītā). Most recently He was born as Śhrī Sāī Bābā of Śhirḍī in the Indian State of Maharashtra where He died in 1918. Altogether there were ten major Avatāras of Dattātreya."
The Book of Ādi Śhakti, Chapter 2: Divine Incarnations – Ambassadors of God

"Macchindranāth, an Incarnation of Dattātreya, the Primordial Master, started Nāth Pāntha. There were some very feared gurus (Avadhūtas) of this cult even decades later. Its deterioration started, though, when tāntrikas imposed themselves as gurus, and took over the cult in many places. These fake gurus were criticized by the great Saint Kabīr Dās in His poems."
The Book of Ādi Śhakti, Chapter 7: Haṭha Yoga and Rāja Yoga

"In this Void is placed the Primordial Master (Ādi Guru) formed from Brahmā, Viṣhṇu and Maheśha (Śhiva). This Primordial Master is also known as Dattātreya. He has taken many human births as a Prophet and teacher, such as Rāja Janaka, Ādināth [Ṛiṣhabhadeva, first Tīrthaṅkara in Jainism], Macchindranāth, Zoroaster, Guru Nāṇaka, and Sāī Nāth of Śhirḍī. This Deity helps human beings to seek their salvation by crossing the Void or Ocean of Illusion within themselves."
